RI.gov: Navigate Rhode Island Government

Rhode Island State Seal

Byrne regulations limit its support of any one program to four years. Two exceptions are for multi-jurisdictional operations and criminal records improvement projects. The years 1997 and1998 marked the final years of funding for several Byrne programs including the Public Defender’s Indigent Defense and Early Intervention projects; and Corrections’ Intensive Probation Supervision for Domestic Violence Offenders, Substance Abuse Treatment for Incarcerated Women, Pre-Trial Services, and Policy and Procedure projects. Technology related projects completed (or nearly finished) included the Tracking System at the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) and the Records Management System installation at the State Police.
