The New England Community Police Partnership
(NECP2) is a volunteer organization
whose mission is to facilitate and enhance regional communication and
coordination of initiatives aimed toward law enforcement and community
partnership building throughout New England. Their focus is on community
policing, drug demand reduction and other innovative programs and techniques.
The ultimate objective of NECP2 is to improve the quality of life for
police officers and the citizens they serve through enhanced police services and
community involvement.
The Rhode Island Justice Commission has been an active partner
with NECP2 for several years. RIJC Crime Prevention Coordinator, Gail
Pereira, attends monthly meetings at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New
Hampshire, to report on prevention efforts in Rhode Island and to participate in
the planning and implementation of NECP2's annual Symposium. NECP2
meetings provide a forum for exchange of crime prevention and community policing
information from the six New England States. Gail Pereira of the RIJC and
Constance Noblet of Narragansett currently sit on the NECP2 Board of
Directors. Officer Denise Owens of the Narragansett Police Department and
Corporal Darren Delaney of the Rhode Island State Police are former members of
the NECP2 Board of Directors.
