Both agencies are migrating from WANG systems
(that use a mainframe computer with "dumb" terminals for all
employees) to PC-based client/server systems with local and wide area networks.
The Attorney General's Department has
procured all of its equipment and is in the process of installing PCs and
training employees. The Public Defender's office has hired a Management
Information System (MIS) specialist to assist with that agency's computer
network overhaul which to date has involved rewiring and the acquisition and
installation of hardware. Both agencies will have their PC-based networks
operational in time to interface into the Court's new system later in the year
